Pool Guidelines

STUDENT BEHAVIOUR

The safe and appropriate behaviour of students is a College requirement at all times. In the event of a student/s misbehaving in the Pool Hall, Members of Staff present have a duty of care to act immediately to prevent possible harm.

This responsibility rests with all Members of Staff, Teaching and Non Teaching, who have the duty to –

  1. Speak directly to the student and/or
  2. Speak to the Teacher if applicable

ON-GOING ISSUES

On-going matters with a particular group of students or Teacher in the Sports Centre during lesson times should be referred to the Head of PDHPE or, on other occasions, the Dean of Students.

APPROPRIATE SWIMWEAR

Appropriate swimwear for females is either a one piece swimsuit or a two piece with additional top, eg Rash top; for males it is swimmers or board shorts.

If a student is wearing inappropriate swimwear, the following procedure is to be followed:

  1. During a class where a teacher is present – Refer the problem to the Teacher
  2. During Recreational Use of the Pool, Before and After School, and during Recess and Lunch – The Centre Manager and/or Assistant Centre Manager are to enforce the swimwear code, however, all Members of Staff, may address the area of concern directly with the student.

DIVE PLATFORMS

Under no circumstances are the Dive Platforms to be used by the Staff and students during recreational swimming.
